At Threaded by Tan, we believe in the quiet power of craft. Rooted in tradition and driven by intention, we design sewing kits and tools that empower individuals to create, connect, and carry forward personal and cultural histories. Our mission is to make sewing accessible, meaningful, and modern—one stitch at a time.
Our
Story
My first real project was a cube. Six fabric squares, unevenly cut and stitched together by a very determined nine-year-old, sitting between two grandparents who had far more skill and far more patience than I did. They taught me with stories, with their hands, and with scraps of fabric from clothes long outgrown.
That’s what sewing has always been to me: a way of passing things down—not just clothes, but knowledge, culture, and care. Over time, I realized how few people my age had access to that kind of learning. So I built Threaded to change that.
Here, we make sewing approachable, sustainable, and personal. Whether you’re stitching for fun, for function, or for something deeper, our kits are designed to give you the tools—and the confidence—to start.

Created at State College Area High School, this video was submitted to Dream Learn Pitch, winning 5th place out of national competitors.
